Here are two playlists for praising God. Enjoy!

I must admit, I have a certain bias against “indie” style music. The image of a singer, slouching on a three-legged stool looking half asleep and emotionally insipid, just invades my head every time I hear that type of singing. Regardless, I was surprised by how much the first song in this playlist caught my attention. I was able to hear past the vocal style and really listen to the words—words that I have heard all my life—and catch a new sense of what the author was saying when he wrote them. It’s those types of moments that make listening to sacred music truly worthwhile. Style didn’t matter in that moment. What mattered is that the Holy Spirit used words that I had sung a hundred times before to strengthen my heart and deepen my relationship with my Savior in an unexpected way. This is why we listen to the same songs over and over and read the same scripture over and over. Because God’s Word, his truth, is living and powerful (Heb 4:12). If we listen (and in my case, suspend a critical attitude) we will be blessed. And we will remember that God is great and always worthy of praise!
Enjoy!

EDIT: The above was about a song by Page CXVI’s version of “How Great Thou Art.” Unfortunaltey, like many songs in our playlists, spotify doesn’t have nearly the catalog of songs that grooveshark did. So instead here is a video of the Page CXVI:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Rom 8:32)
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8)
