One of my favorite books of the bible is I Peter. There are many reasons, but today I remembered how Peter admonishes his readers to stand firm while suffering (1 Pet 5:12) through the grace supplied by God (1 Pet 5:10). As it so happens God providentially had me begin a sermon series in this book right before he was to take me through some real difficulties several years ago. At the time I thought it a rather dubious honor. I literally went from preaching about how to have hope in the middle of unjust suffering to experiencing unjust suffering myself. It was an unpleasent time, yet very healthy for my Christian life. God proved himself strong enough to protect my faith (1 Peter 1:5) and my hope in an inheritance which is “sin-proof, death-proof, and time-proof” increased (1 Pet 1:4). The inheritance keept me hour by hour through suffering. We hope that this playlist will help you be faithful in today’s suffering. Let each song express your hope and trust for suffering.

"The Christian Gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. It undermines both swaggering and sniveling. I cannot feel superior to anyone, and yet I have nothing to prove to anyone. I do not think more of myself or less of myself. Instead, I think of myself less."
